On the first day, you will be picked up from Errachidia Airport (ERH) or your accommodation and driven south to the Sahara dunes of Merzouga. Settle into your accommodation and spend the night in Merzouga.
After breakfast, spend the day exploring the Merzouga region. The area offers sand dunes, a seasonal lake, fossil sites, small mines, and beautiful oases, perfect for light outdoor activities.
Begin with an off-road drive to an ancient kohl mine, then visit nomads in their handwoven tents and learn about their lifestyle over a cup of Berber tea. Continue to Khamlia village to enjoy traditional Gnaoua music and dance, performed by locals with origins in Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, walk through a palm grove and visit the wild Merzouga lake, often called the flamingo lake.
Later, ride camels across the desert, stopping atop a dune to admire the sunset before continuing to your luxury desert camp. In the evening, enjoy Berber drumming around the campfire beneath a star-filled sky. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, return by camel to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting. Depart the desert and visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet and a major trading hub with a lively souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After exploring the souk, continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble.
Drive along the scenic Ziz River with a panoramic stop in the Ziz Valley. Enjoy free time for lunch in Midelt. Continue to the Cedar Forest, home to Barbary macaques, where you can observe or feed the monkeys. Next, visit Ifrane, famous for its alpine-style architecture, snowy winters, and cool climate—earning it the nickname “Switzerland of Morocco.” Finally, arrive in Fes, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation. End of the tour.
