On the first day of your 3-day Merzouga desert tour, you will be picked up from Errachidia Airport (ERH) or your accommodation. From there, travel south toward the Sahara dunes of Merzouga. Upon arrival, settle in and spend the night in Merzouga.
After breakfast, spend the day exploring the Merzouga Desert and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The region features a mix of sand dunes, a seasonal lake, fossil areas, small mines, and green oases, making it ideal for light exploration.
Begin with an off-road drive to an old kohl mine, then visit nomadic families living in traditional tents and learn about their lifestyle while sharing a cup of Berber tea. Continue to Khamlia village to enjoy Gnaoua music and dance, performed by locals with origins in sub-Saharan Africa. Free time for lunch in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, walk through the palm grove and visit the wild lake of Merzouga, often called the flamingo lake. Later, ride camels across the dunes, stopping on a high dune to watch the sunset before continuing to your desert camp. In the evening, enjoy traditional Berber drumming around the campfire under a starry sky. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the desert dunes. After breakfast, return to Merzouga to meet your driver and begin the journey west toward Marrakech. Along the way, stops will be made for viewpoints and café breaks before reaching Ouarzazate, where you will have free time for lunch.
After lunch, continue to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its appearance in films such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the series Game of Thrones. Continue the drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, with opportunities for photo stops along the way.
Arrival in Marrakech in the evening, followed by transfer to the airport or your accommodation. End of the tour.
